Who is eligible to apply?

 

All current NYC residents that are currently 8th and first-time 9th-grade students.

2.

What are the criteria for admissions?

 

All students interested in applying to Fashion Industries for possible admission for the upcoming fall must fill out an NYC High School application via MySchools.

​

Students are selected based on the following criteria:​

  • Portfolio

  • Audition Interview

    • In person consists of appointment for audition​

    • Videos attached to MySchools and/or our Online Questionnaire

When does the admissions process take place?

 

One academic year prior to possible entrance.

 For example: All participants in the 2023-2024 admissions process are applying for possible admission for Fall 2024

When will the admissions examinations take place for possible fall 2024 admissions?

 

Audition Information:

All students can audition for the High School of Fashion Industries in 1 of 3 ways:


Choice #1 - Include an HSFI PROGRAM among your 12 choices in the MySchools application AND SUBMIT ALL PORTFOLIO REQUIREMENTS IN THAT PORTAL  
OR

Choice #2 - Include an HSFI PROGRAM among your 12 choices in the MySchools application AND AUDITION IN PERSON BY BRINGING YOUR PORTFOLIO PIECES TO YOUR AUDITION DATE

OR

Choice #3 - Include an HSFI PROGRAM among your 12 choices in the MySchools application AND SUBMIT ALL PORTFOLIO REQUIREMENTS TO OUR ONLINE QUESTIONNARE (goes LIVE in the Fall) - This option can substitute Choice #2

What if I do not have a MySchools Account?

 

All NYC Public school students have access to a MySchools account via their current middle school.

If you do not have access, you can visit your boroughs Family Welcome Center to receive support and assistance with this platform.  

6.

What do I need to bring for my audition date?

 

You will need to bring the following for the day of the audition:

  • Two no. 2 pencils or pen to complete the interview questionnaire IF you have not completed it ONLINE - (goes LIVE in the Fall)

  • Your portfolio. Please refer to our portfolio requirements for further insight on on how to create a well-developed portfolio for the day of the audition.

Will I have a full academic program along with my career and technical educational classes?

 

Yes, absolutely!

All students follow the required NYS Common Core and Regents Requirements and Career and Technical Education Curriculum in either Art, Fashion Marketing and Visual Merchandising, or Fashion Design. Majority of our students graduate with a CTE Advanced Regents Diploma.

Are instructional support services available for students with IEPs?

 

The Instructional Support Service Department fully supports students with IEPs and offers the following service:

Integrated Co-Teaching

Small Class Setting

 What is the graduation rate?

 

The current graduation rate for the class of 2022 is 91 percent.

HSFI has a historic above 90% average graduation rate.

Where is Fashion Industries located? 

 

We are located in the heart of Chelsea on 24th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues.

What are the nearest train lines? 

 

The nearest train lines are:

1 train on 23rd Street and the corner of 7th Avenue.

C and E trains on 23rd Street and the corner of 8th Avenue.

F train on 23rd Street and the corner of 6th Avenue.

METROCARDS are available to all students who are eligible.

What types of extra-curricular activities are offered?

 

There are a wide variety of extra-curricular activities and PSAL sports teams to choose from as a student at Fashion.

14.

What other special programs are offered at Fashion Industries?

 

Along with well structured academic classes, career and technical educational programs, and a multitude of extra-curricular activities, including college-credit earning study abroad, students can take part in our Work Based Learning and Executive Internship programs to gain hands on experience within their fields of study at Fashion Industries.
