SCHOOL LOCKERS
One important piece of information for students is that you will not have access to their hallway lockers at the beginning of the school year - all hallway lockers will be tied up. This year we hope to provide two locks for students to secure their lockers, but the delivery of these locks has been delayed due to shipping issues. We hope to have these locks very soon and will then open up the hallway lockers. We are requiring that all students use school issued locks once we get them delivered. At some point next week students will need locks for your physical education (gym) class, if the locks have not been delivered yet, we will ask students who have locks to bring them in - if you do not have a lock, we have enough locks that we can allow you to use for physical education (gym) class. We will keep you and your family updated on the lock issue.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION (GYM) CLASS INFORMATION
For physical education classes, students are required to wear a HSFI t-shirt, shorts, leggings or sweatpants and sneakers. New students to HSFI will be given a ‘HSFI Physical Education & Wellness’ t-shirt. Returning students were given these t-shirts last year. Students can also wear any HSFI t-shirt sold at the FLY school store for Fashion Dollars, our very own HSFI money. New students will learn about Fashion Dollars when we get to school.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
As far as school supplies, the most important school supplies are looseleaf binders, pens, pencils and for math classes, the Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus calculator. All students should have a TI-84 calculator at home to complete their math assignments. We have these calculators at school, but students will need them at home as well. If you have difficulty getting this calculator for home use, please let your math teacher know at the beginning of the school year.
The school will provide most of the supplies for your major classes including fashion design, art, visual merchandising and photography. Any additional supplies needed for your major class will be communicated with you at the beginning of the school year.
STUDENT HANDBOOK
I am proud to share that we have produced a HSFI Student Handbook that can help guide you. This handbook promotes our core community values of Safety, Ownership, Achievement, Respect, and Responsibility (SOARR), and it has over 32 fillable activity sheets for you. You need structure to succeed and hopefully this handbook helps provide that to you. Each student and staff member will receive a hard copy of the handbook during the second week of school. Here is a digital version of this resource: https://online.pubhtml5.com/ewpm/urcr/index.html
