SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT
POSITIVE BEHAVIOR = FASHION DOLLARS
The High School of Fashion Industries continues to focus on a commitment to Safety; Ownership; Achievement; Respect; and Responsibility. If you take the first letters of these five words, you get the word SOARR. Soaring towards college and career readiness is what the High School of Fashion Industries is all about.
The HSFI community has developed a matrix of behaviors for students, staff and parents that will help all of us SOARR!
EQUITY MATTERS| PARTNERSHIP WITH HARVARD UNIVERSITY
HSFI is committed to strengthening students' sense of belonging and building a sense of collective impact. We have been strategic in our disrupting inequity efforts by integrating students in the school's decision-making process and building capacity by strengthening their voice. Our partnership with Harvard supports our efforts towards building sustainable and transformative change within our community as we refine our practices and establish a more excellent and equitable school.
At HSFI emotions matter. Emotions drive learning, decision making, creativity, relationships, and health. In partnership with Yale University’s Center for Emotional Intelligence and Facebook’s InspirED, staff and students have been trained in Yale’s RULER social emotional learning curriculum. The Mood Meter is one of the “anchors of Emotional Intelligence” in the RULER program. It helps people develop the core RULER skills: Recognizing, Understanding, Labeling, Expressing, and Regulating emotions. Learning to identify and label emotions is a critical step toward cultivating emotional intelligence. The ultimate goal is to promote self-awareness and self-regulation to equip both students and staff with the necessary skills to understand the full scope of their emotional life.
